I want freshwater fish (easier than salt water fish)
Fish that are ideal for beginners.

Be specific if you can, on what species and how many of that species in the tank.
Also, are there any links you can give me? Like, forums or just good information pages on that fish?

Question by SimKitties: Cat Breeding Tips In About 10 Years Later?
I plan on being a cat breeder when I’m older…
Can you give me some tips?
I know how long it takes for them to give birth,
and I need some safety tips and how to take care of the mother and the cat’s latter kitten(s).

Thanks!
PS: I meant later, not litter!

Best answer:

Answer by Ruby
Hint: A cat’s kittens are part of a LITTER- not a latter.

• Reputable cat breeders only breed purebred cats.
• Breeding stock should first be titled in the show ring. Titles prove that you care about your breed and care about improving it by showing and breeding individuals that fit a breed standard.
• All breeding stock should be health tested for problems common to the breed, such as PKD, PRA and HCM.
• Cats are pregnant for 63-69 days.
• Kittens remain with the breeder until 10-12 weeks old.

I’ve included some reading material below. Have fun!

Question by Raegan T: Can I use pond water to help start my aquarium?
I have over 400 gallons in aquariums and I just got a 100 gallon. I was wondering if I could use my goldfish/koi pond water to help get it t started? The pond is 1500 gallons, so if I filled it up the pond wouldn’t miss it. The pond doesn’t have any problems with algae, the fish are in perfect health and the pond is self-sustaining. I only have a small fountain in the middle to help oxygenate the water.
I have already set up quite a few aquariums successfully. I don’t need anymore education on that.

The water in my pond is balanced. The ammonia, nitrates, ph level ETC are all where they should be. I won’t use spring water, either. It’s no better than tap.
Yes, setting up an aquarium successfully is a good feeling, but I have done so for 5 20 gallons, 2 50 gallons, 2 75 gallons, and 5 10 gallons. After awhile it loses it’s touch.

Yes, I am going it put goldfish in it. I don’t have any in the house yet and I would love to.

Question by Lisa T: Any tips on controlling live crickets as feed for reptiles ?
The little critters just escape when I open their container to give them gut loading food and even more so when I try and transfer a few of them to a little container to dust them with calcium prior to feeding to our leopard gecko. Any of you experienced reptile keepers out there have any helpful advice, please ?

Best answer:

Answer by Samanamantha
I purchase crickets and transport them in a plastic bag, yours is probobly the same manner. I simply open the bag, it is large enough that they cannot jump out, and quickly pour in the vitamins and calcium-both in powder form. I shake the bag a little bit to coat all the crickets. If you must gut load, purchase a small tank or other enclosure that could actually contain the crickets. You must dump them in the enclosure quickly and seal it. Some are bound to escape anyway.Use a net, like a goldfish net, to scoop some up and place c=something over it, like a piece of cardboard, to prevent them from jumping out of the net. I hope this helps.

I have a cat, Tigger, who likes to attack my little sister who’s almost 2. I need to train him not too claw/bite her in a short space of time. Any tips? I know that cats hate citrus, and I don’t want him declawed.

Best answer:

Answer by Tezykitty
To discipline your cat, have a spray bottle handy or a small water gun filled with room temperature water. When you find the mischievous little feline attacking the toddler, spray it with the water. Do not drench the kitty, or burn the kitty, or freeze the kitty. Just room temperature water. This method also works if your cat is knocking things off counters,or any other mischievous thing.

Question by Lynng_countrygirl: How do I keep large black birds away from my bird feeders?
I have bird feeders in my yard to feed the tiny little birds that fly about, especially this time of year when it’s really cold. The problem I am having is that there are alot of crow / black birds in our area and they are absolutely relentless when it comes to the bird feeders. I really don’t care for these black birds at all. They eat or destroy all the food for the little birds in a short amount of time. Does any one have a sensible solution to this bird problem, besides shooting the black birds. We have plenty of woods and fields for these black birds to hang out in….Not my bird feeders!

Best answer:

Answer by Eurydice
you should feed thru a bird feeder with a small hole that only the small birds can fit thru

Question by Tory & SuzAnne S: How do I start aquarium plants from seeds?
We just bought a beta fish for our daughter. I got a package of 3 aquarium plant seeds from the store as well. However, it didn’t have any starting instructions? do I plop the seeds in the water? do I plant it in the rocks in the aquarium? do I start it in dirt? I have no idea..Our sons friends said to put the seed in the aquarium and it would sprout roots–its been a week- we are changing the water. The beta is fine the seed… not so fine.
thank you– whats a “substrate”?

Best answer:

Answer by Anthony
I would just throw them in the tank and let them soak up the water. After they sit for a while you can gently stick them into the substrate. They should sprout within a few weeks. If any do not, they’re bad so remove them and throw them away.

Question by : How bad is dog poop and pee on carpets for babies who are starting to crawl?
Ok so i have a 6 month old baby girl and she seems likes shes wants to start crawling. I spend most of the time at my boyfriends house. I am really scared about dogs and cats being around her. The carpet floor is VERY dirty!!!!!!!!!!! theres pee everywhere, stain and dry up on the floor, and the dogs poop inside when nobody is awake in the morning to take them out. Or when theres nobody home. They loose a lot of hair and like to get into everything. Im really scared to let my baby crawl in that carpet its old and just in really bad shape, and the animals are making it worst. I try to keep it clean but there only so much i can do.
3DOGS and 3CATS
( its my mother in laws house..my boyfriend leaves with her, and my boyfriend tries to talk to his mom about it but it seems like his mom is used of it! and shes the one that doesn’t do much about it). my baby means the world to me i don’t want her to get sick:( and one more thing, the worst animal they have right know is a 14 yr old big black dog, and shes having problems. there’s been a couple of times where shes pee out of no where on the carpet and its really discusting and stinky and leaves a big stain:(

Best answer:

Answer by A
Don’t let her crawl on it, it sounds dreadful and unhygenic! Could get her and others very ill. I suggest getting those dogs trained or outdoor kennels so they won’t poop during the night inside as they won’t be inside.. or getting rid of them. =/

Question by Nessus: How do I start an outdoor fish pond?
We recently bought a house with a small outdoor concrete pond. We were told by the previous owners at closing that they used to keep fish in the pond.
It looks like it holds around 60 – 80 gallons of water. There is a drain hole right in the center, but there is no pump or filter. It hasn’t held fish for a some time since the sellers had rented the house for a few years before selling.
What do we need to do to turn this into a fish pond? I’m willing to tackle almost any DIY project, but I would prefer not to have to dig up my yard if it can be avoided.

Best answer:

Answer by ZolTar
Best thing to do is clean it up. Use a mildew killer on the concrete. Purchase a pump and filter at Walmart for like $ 60, buy some fish acessories, maybe some pond stones to place in the bottom, purchase some fish, fill the pond with water and put everything in. You might also need to get an extension cord depending on how far away the outlet is. To hide the cord just dig a 3 inch hole however long you need it and put it in there and then cover it back up. Best thing to use is a trowel. This why when you mow you don’t cut into the cord.
