Question by : How bad is dog poop and pee on carpets for babies who are starting to crawl?
Ok so i have a 6 month old baby girl and she seems likes shes wants to start crawling. I spend most of the time at my boyfriends house. I am really scared about dogs and cats being around her. The carpet floor is VERY dirty!!!!!!!!!!! theres pee everywhere, stain and dry up on the floor, and the dogs poop inside when nobody is awake in the morning to take them out. Or when theres nobody home. They loose a lot of hair and like to get into everything. Im really scared to let my baby crawl in that carpet its old and just in really bad shape, and the animals are making it worst. I try to keep it clean but there only so much i can do. icon sad Q&A: How bad is dog poop and pee on carpets for babies who are starting to crawl?

( its my mother in laws house..my boyfriend leaves with her, and my boyfriend tries to talk to his mom about it but it seems like his mom is used of it! and shes the one that doesn’t do much about it). icon sad Q&A: How bad is dog poop and pee on carpets for babies who are starting to crawl? my baby means the world to me i don’t want her to get sick:( and one more thing, the worst animal they have right know is a 14 yr old big black dog, and shes having problems. there’s been a couple of times where shes pee out of no where on the carpet and its really discusting and stinky and leaves a big stain:(

Best answer:

Answer by A
Don’t let her crawl on it, it sounds dreadful and unhygenic! Could get her and others very ill. I suggest getting those dogs trained or outdoor kennels so they won’t poop during the night inside as they won’t be inside.. or getting rid of them. =/

Practice with your own dog.

Don’t take this the wrong way, buy I wouldn’t give you my dogs to walk and I’m not sure of any responsible dog owners who would.

by clocksforseeing

Question by northtop_blackbird: How can I train my dachshund to become a pet dog?
A pet dog is obedient to his or her owner. Just like those dogs you see on tv that is well trained and other stuff.

Best answer:

Answer by Fae Goddess
try enrolling him & yourself in an obedience class in your area, you can look up dog training in the phonebook & should find something there or go to AKC.com they have links to breeders and such in all areas & you should be able to locate one that way…..dogs have to be trained to be obedient unfortunatly they usually just dont do it on thier own

Why is my dog too much shy or submissive with other dogs?

by M Glasgow

Question by BigTree: Why is my dog too much shy or submissive with other dogs?
My german sherperd dog is already 10 months old. She is still very shy with other dogs. Even a very small size dog can chase her. If other dogs approach her aggresively, she submited immediately. I would like her to play with other dogs happily with confidence. Most dogs she met in off-leash park were very nice(not as aggressive as she thought). Please give me some tips on how to train her to be confident like a gsd should be.

Best answer:

Answer by shippo2wolf
hmm, try to get her a play mate about her size. or get a friends dog. it is ok for your dog to be shy, just not with every dog. the best option is either you go out and play with her yourself, or get another dog her age.

Q&A: What is the difference between a companion dog and a pet dog?

Question by ratava: What is the difference between a companion dog and a pet dog?
There is a man I know who brings his dog to work because it’s a companion dog. I can’t bring my pet dog. What is the difference?

Best answer:

Answer by tahoenpa
A companion dog is giving a rating and is certified as a companion dog. They are assigned to people who have some sort of disability that a dog can be of help with. For instance a blind person’s seeing eye dog is a certified companion dog. They have different certifications for different things, there are dogs for people who are deaf, blind, have some sort of physical disability. You name it, they have a dog to help!

Can the worlds greatest dog trainer teach a male dog to control itself around a female dog in heat?

by pberry

Question by Bao V: Can the worlds greatest dog trainer teach a male dog to control itself around a female dog in heat?
Can a famous and distinguishable dog trainer like Cesar Milan train a male dog that’s not neutured to calmly sit still next to a female dog in heat for a long time and not yelp and whine? Is it possible? I only hear about dog trainers and vets instructing to separate the dogs when the female dog is in heat. What about training the male dog to resist the urge of a female dog in heat and behave itself calmly?

Best answer:

Answer by Owned By An Aussie
I don’t think that is ever possible. When a male dog is around a female dog in heat, I don’t think they even know what’s going on between them first smelling her and the ending result ha

Q&A: When comparing a working dog to a pet dog, do you think their temperaments differ, why and how?

6150403570 c8880698b4 m Q&A: When comparing a working dog to a pet dog, do you think their temperaments differ, why and how?
by ănggĕ

Question by Ĵen: When comparing a working dog to a pet dog, do you think their temperaments differ, why and how?
Do you think the owner/handler expectations and demands have led to a divide in temperament?
Why are some behaviours deemed permissible in a pet dog that wouldn’t be accepted in a working dog, when the consequences may be the same for each dog, ie, not having a dog 100% reliable off leash.

Best answer:

Answer by Z
Depends on the type of work, which also determines the type of dog.
Guide dogs have friendly temperaments, and are much like pet dogs.
Search and rescue dogs – same.
Police dogs are trained to attack on command, but their temperament can also be quite gentle, with proper leadership.

As for behaviors – sniffing, scanning, and distraction are NOT good for guide dogs. High oflactory distraction is great for S&R dogs. So again, it depends on the type of work.

So how do I get over it fast?

You won’t get over it “fast”, she has been part of your life for a long time. Make arrangements when you can go and see her and stick to it. Don’t forget she will miss you too.

Worms come mostly from fleas. If your dog is flea free and stays indoors worms are very unlikely. Eating houseflys can also result in worms.

Q&A: What is some mental enrichment for my dog? socialization tips?

6206976842 6dfbd64d50 m Q&A: What is some mental enrichment for my dog? socialization tips?
by Travis S.

Question by Abby: What is some mental enrichment for my dog? socialization tips?
I have recently adopted a three year old Australian Shepherd and he is great but really high strung so I need some tips on mental enrichment/activity for my dog that wouldn’t really cost much.
We tried to give him new surroundings (parks, walks different places etc.) but he is aggressive to some dogs, does anyone have any tips for how to socialize him?
His old home was a condo and they didn’t have enough space for him and his home before that was well we don’t know!

Best answer:

Answer by Sarah
Try food puzzles like the buster food cube. There are a bunch of them and they make the dog work for his food, keeping him mentally stimulated. My dog LOVES it! Daily training is also a great mental stimulant for dogs. Work with him everyday to learn new tricks or just basic obedience.

Australian Shepherds are working dogs so he will need plenty of exercise, daily walks will help. You also might consider getting him involved in some sports… like agility.

In order to socialize a dog aggressive or dog selective dog you might want to hire a trainer but you can also do some research on appropriate dog introductions and schedule very small play-dates with other dogs that he has already had the chance to meet and become familiar with. Of course this should all be done under very close supervision.

Good Luck!

What does it mean when a dog licks another dog under the chin?

Question by KS: What does it mean when a dog licks another dog under the chin?
I’m taking care of some family’s dogs for the week, but I only own one dog. My dog always seems very aggressive towards other dogs, but they seem to be getting along alright. My dog is always trying to lick under the chin of one of the other dogs, and that dog doesn’t seem to like it much. Is that some type of communication, and if yes, what does it mean?

Also…since I’ve got you here icon smile What does it mean when a dog licks another dog under the chin? … my dog keeps taking the toys aways from that particular dog. If the one dog starts playing by himself with a toy, or if they start a game of tug of war, my dog starts growling and takes the toy away. Is that how dogs normally play, or is my dog being a bit selfish?

Best answer:

Answer by Sexy_Morena
All together he is just showing affection either that or the other dog has food on his chin. All dogs play tug of war that way they are like kids if one plays with a toy the other will try to take it away.
