the water needs to be 24 inchs deep deeper is better.
if its less than that it can turn into one big ice cube and kill your fish.
you will also need to keep the water moving this will all help keep it from freezing over.

You fishless cycle by using a source of ammonia. That can be pure ammonia if you can find it, or you can use a bit of fish food that will break down into ammonia. If you have trouble finding pure ammonia, try ordering a Dr. Foster's and Smith product called Dr. Tim's One and Only. This comes with a starting bottle of bacteria (not really necessary since these bacteria are present in the water and the air), but more importantly also comes with a bottle of pure ammonia.

http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=18986

The idea is the feed the good bacteria ammonia so they grow in your filter and biological filtration. You will also need a good water test kit. A liquid test kit lasts longest and is most accurate. You add a few drops of ammonia. Since the concentration can vary, there's no set amount to do this. Give it a few minutes and test for ammonia. You want a concentration of 3-5 ppm ammonia. Continue to test ammonia daily until it starts to go down to about 1 ppm and then repeat. Over time, you should see ammonia go down and nitrites start to come up. At this point it will take a while, and it can be 4-6 weeks. You want the ammonia to be at 0, the nitrite to be at 0, and the nitrate to be 40 ppm or less (but preferably 20 ppm or less).

Even after fishless cycling, it's good to add only a few fish at a time to make sure the filter can keep up with it.

Good fish for a ten gallon include:

1) 4-6 platies
2) 4 shortfin mollies (no sailfin mollies)
3) 4-8 guppies (for platies, mollies, and guppies, get all one gender if you don't want them to reproduce)
4) 6 golden barbs
5) 6 cherry barbs
6) 6 zebra danios or Glofish (barbs and danios prefer a 15-20 gallon tank, but definitely fit in a 10 gallon even if I'm about to get thumbs down)
7) 6-8 white cloud mountain minnows
8) A dwarf gourami
9) Many types of smaller tetra like ember tetras, glowlight tetras, white skirt, black skirt, etc.
10) A Bolivian ram (German or Gold rams are the same, but not as hardy)
11) Indian dwarf puffer (will be the only thing in the tank)
12) 6 dwarf of pygmy corydoras catfish. A few other species of cory also get only about 2" like the peppered cory, but can be hard to find.
13) Sparkling gourami. Hard to find but pretty and small.
14) 6 Harlequin Rasboras or other small rasboras.

You should choose only one school of 6-8 fish. You may or may not be able to add a betta, dwarf gourami, or ram depending on what sort of fish you have and what the personality of the "centerpiece" fish you have. I will add to the list as I think of more.

Fish to avoid:
1) Plecos
2) Most types of cichlid, except for extremely dwarf varieties.
3) Discus and angelfish, which both get too big.
4) Neon tetras, cardinal tetras, and rummynose tetras, which are delicate fish and not good beginner fish.
5) Puffer fish that are not an Indian dwarf puffer.

guppies! u can have about 10-15 wonderful looking guppies. um.. if u are a good care taker u can try gouramis (app. 3-5 in a tank) , they are related to betta fish, so u cant put them w/ other fish type besides other gouramis.(u can put them w/ others, it is just that i dont advise a beginner to try) there are opal gouramis and rainbow gouramis...etc.etc. mollies are good too! mollies and guppies go well together, and once u gain some confidence u can add cories(small catfish). the thing is, guppies breed a lot, so if want color-get the males. since u are a beginner i suggest u stick to all males, since having fries is not the easiest thing for beginners. make sure if u are putting mollies and guppies together that u get male mollies since guppies can and have bred w/ mollies b4. hope this helped. oh yea, a rule of thumb for tanks is that u can have 1-1.5 inch fish per gallon, so since u have a 10 gallon tank, u can have 10 one inch fish.

Let them play. Get them to know eachother. Give every cat the same amount of attention. They DO get jelouse. The little ones will probably learn the house "rules" from the older cat.

Well for introducing them you want to do it on neatrul territory. if you just put the kittens in with your older cat she might get territorial, so make sure to introduce them in a place nobody has claimed. Litter training can be hard but just show them the litter box and every time they go on the floor put them in the litterbox. also, if they go on the floor put the mess in the litter box and show them. if they keep going in the same place you may want to move the litter box to that place. good luck with your kitties!

1. A mare is a female horse over 4 years old.
2. A filly is a female horse under 4 years old.

There's lots of horse breed facts and photos on here:

www.horsebreedslist.com

P.S. A colt is a non-castrated male under 4 years, a stallion is a non-castrated male over 4 years and a gelding is a castrated male of any age.

In the UK, thoroughbreds, thoroughbred crosses and warmbloods are fairly common, along with our native breeds :-)

A filly is a young female horse who has not been bred ( has not had a foal) A Mare.. is a Mammy :-) Wild Mustangs are always nice to write about, or what about a mare that wanted to race so bad but she was not a thoroughbred so they did not want her on the course, instead she was used for breeding and had a foal, a young filly the fastest thing they'd seen in a number of years..

Wild at Heart! or something like that :-)

Emerging 60 million years ago, the first horse was called Eohippus (The Dawn Horse) and was tiny, weighing only 12 pounds and standing just 14 inches high. In contrast to the modern one-toed horse, the Eohippus had four toes on its front feet and three on its hind feet.b
The term “horse” is derived from the Old English hors, which is related to the Proto-Indo-European (PIE) kurs, which is the source of the Latin currere, “to run.” This replaced the original PIE root ekwo from which the Greek hippos and Latin equus derived, both meaning “horse.” This dual etymology is perhaps due to the reluctance of ancient cultures to utter the actual root or name of an animal held sacred for the Indo-European religion.a
Horses that seem wild today (such as Mustangs) are actually feral horses, usually descendants of horses that were imported to America from Spain in the sixteenth century. The only true wild horse is the Asian Wild Horse.b
No horses existed in Australia until settlers brought them during the eighteenth century, and no early horse fossils have ever been found in Australia.c
Before being domesticated in the Middle and Far East around 4000 B.C., horses were hunted for their skin and meat, usually by being clubbed or driven over a cliff.b
After horses became domesticated around 4000 B.C., many Indo-European cultures regarded horses as a supreme sacrifice to their gods and often ritually entombed horses. People in the Caucasus practiced horse sacrifice as late as the 1800s.a
Famous owner/horse partnerships that helped change world history include Alexander the Great and his horse Bucephalus (“ox head”), El Cid and Babieca (“stupid”), and Napoleon and Marengo (named after a battle) who after its death, had its skeleton displayed in London.b
A horse’s teeth are a good indicator ofits age.d Hence, St. Jerome (A.D. 400), who never accepted payment for his writings, penned the famous adage “Never inspect the teeth of a gift horse,”b which became the more familiar “Never look a gift horse in the mouth.”
Though most horses live for 25-30 years, the oldest horse on record is “Old Billy,” who was a barge horse born in England and lived to the age of 62. The first year of a horse’s life is roughly comparable to 12 human years, the second year is comparable to 7 human years, the next 3 years are comparable to 4 human years a piece, and subsequent years are comparable 2.5 human years.d That means Old Billy was roughly 173.5 horse years.
Horses have five highly developed senses: taste, touch, hearing, smell, and sight. They also have an enigmatic sixth sense, heightened perception, which is very rare in humans.f

The eyes of a horse are larger than most other animals', and they can move independently, giving the horse a shallow panoramic vision.

I'd suggest a uromastyx. Green iguanas get large, and can turn out to be aggressive if not interacted with regularly. And most of the smaller species of iguana are omnivorous. I like the ornate and mali uromastyx, but there are allot of different species available. I'm pretty sure they are all herbivorous, but you should check each species.

tortoises are probably one of the only other reptiles in your case. Turtles do eat meat such as fish and even mice as a treat. Tortoise is probably your best option. However if you do change your mind one of my favorite lizards that eats crickets AS WELL as veggies is the bearded dragon..they are amazing!

E Z Groom makes a product called crystal white which is a shampoo many show people swear by. That said it still takes several washings and continued up keep to keep a nice show dog white. Show dogs are bathed weekly and your pet can also be bathed weekly in order to keep it white. You can also use a conditioner and if your dog gets enough oils it will not dry out the skin. Many dogs are bathed weekly with no problems. Linatone is a nice food additive to add oil to diets of dogs with dry coats but is not needed on most dogs and I have not related the need for additional food oils to weekly bathing. BTW white hair stains, turns yellow, or that unsightly orange tinge if it is not kept ultra clean.

http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1%2D22056&ss=shampoo

i know you didn't want to buy anything but this works well, its safe on dogs i believe (most horse whitening shampoos are really good) and you should be able to find on at your local pet feed store or you could order it.

then you could try iodine, just don't leave it on to long cuz it will stain her more yellow but that works really well as well

also i heard baking soda makes them white as well

as for her smelling worse, what are you washing her with? make sure your using dog shampoos and towel her dry and then pop her into a crate with a fan on her to dry quickly (she may be drying too slowly giving herself that "old wet towel" kind of smell

anyways good luck

There are shampoos you can buy (through petedge.com) that are whitening shampoos. However, I've never personally used one so I'm not sure how great they work. That's they only thing I know to try. I don't know any home ideas, sorry.
