Cat Breeding Tips In About 10 Years Later?
Question by SimKitties: Cat Breeding Tips In About 10 Years Later?
I plan on being a cat breeder when I’m older…
Can you give me some tips?
I know how long it takes for them to give birth,
and I need some safety tips and how to take care of the mother and the cat’s latter kitten(s).
Thanks!
PS: I meant later, not litter!
Best answer:
Answer by Ruby
Hint: A cat’s kittens are part of a LITTER- not a latter.
• Reputable cat breeders only breed purebred cats.
• Breeding stock should first be titled in the show ring. Titles prove that you care about your breed and care about improving it by showing and breeding individuals that fit a breed standard.
• All breeding stock should be health tested for problems common to the breed, such as PKD, PRA and HCM.
• Cats are pregnant for 63-69 days.
• Kittens remain with the breeder until 10-12 weeks old.
I’ve included some reading material below. Have fun!

Can someone give me cat training tips?
Question by Lu: Can someone give me cat training tips?
I have a cat, Tigger, who likes to attack my little sister who’s almost 2. I need to train him not too claw/bite her in a short space of time. Any tips? I know that cats hate citrus, and I don’t want him declawed.

Answer by Tezykitty
To discipline your cat, have a spray bottle handy or a small water gun filled with room temperature water. When you find the mischievous little feline attacking the toddler, spray it with the water. Do not drench the kitty, or burn the kitty, or freeze the kitty. Just room temperature water. This method also works if your cat is knocking things off counters,or any other mischievous thing.

Q&A: Is it wise to start walking a cat? Any tips on how to make it work?
Question by jessicalab01: Is it wise to start walking a cat? Any tips on how to make it work?
Apparently my cat is depressed. I know, I know, stop anthropomorphizing him. But he is peeing outside the litterbox, he’s older and notoriously stubborn. I’ve read that introducing a new environment can help them get into better spirits (and stop peeing). Does anyone have any positive or negative stories to share and any helpful tips??
Thanks!!
Some responses: he doesn’t have a urinary tract infection, and he has a history of peeing. He used ot belong to my sister and after they had to replace the carpets, they asked me to try to “rehabilitate” him. He only pees by doors, both closets and doors to outside. I can get the harness on him but he won’t walk around, but its only been 2 days. I just want to make sure I won’t do irreparable damage to him by introducing him to the outside and having him either get so scared that he gets sick or that he will want to go outside all the time.

I have leash trained a few cats myself, it takes some time but it works very well. My one cat, wanted to go outside but every time he did he would get lost & couldn’t find his way back & I don’t have the heart to keep him locked inside. So I went out and bought a harness & started to leash train him like a dog. It took a while, but it worked. He walks like a dog on a leash now & he loves it! Good luck!

How do Cats and Dogs know which is cat food and which is dog food?
Question by Aneleh: How do Cats and Dogs know which is cat food and which is dog food?
I have 2 cats and three dogs. One night, I ran out of cat food (the dry type) and my cats were hungry. So since I had dog food only and the shops were closed, I gave them dog kibbles. They’re more or less of the same shape and size and are made of the same ingredients – chicken. My cats took a nibble and refused the rest of the bowl, preferring to go hungry than eat dog food. The next day, i got them a fresh pack of made-for-cats kibbles and they immediately dived in and ate up. How come my cats knew what I gave them wasn’t cat food?
I also know of dogs that won’t eat cat food for the long run (not mine though, cos they’re pigs and will eat anything).
It would be good if a pet food manufacturer can answer this question. Is there some special ingredient you put in cat and dog food that makes cats and dogs know which kibbles is who’s? Also, nowadays, dogs are eating fish too – like salmon. You can’t say it’s the ingredient. How come they know the difference?
Best answer:
Answer by jemima
They don’t is the simple answer. I’ve fed my cat dog food and although she wasn’t too keen on it, she ate it. I think it’s to do with the density and bulk of the meat. If I mash the dog food for her she eats it. The dog just eats!!!

How Do I teach a 3-4 year old cat tricks?
Question by ~Seeing Eye Dog~: How Do I teach a 3-4 year old cat tricks?
What tricks do I teach my cat and How?
Best answer:
Answer by Linda C
It’s easier if they are taught starting when they’re kittens, but you can teach a cat to jump through a hoop, roll over and beg by using bribery. You need lots and lots of patience, too, because cats are harder to teach than dogs. It’s not that the cat is dumber, it’s just that they don’t care about pleasing you. Cats are thinking, “What’s in it for me?”. A treat, that’s what.
I was at an International Cat Show in Chicago and saw the cats that are in the cat food commercials perform. They were awesome and performed beautifully. The trainer said treats and patience.
There are several books available that will show you how to teach your cat simple tricks. I checked Amazon.com and saw some inexpensive ones. Might be worth checking out. Your local library might have some, too.

Best answer:
Answer by Jessie!
first show the cat your the boss. lay it down flat on its back and hold it down until it realizes it can’t move unless you take your hand away. then teach it just like you teach a dog…
sit: push its butt down to the floor and keep it like that.. then say sit whenever you do it.
lay: make it lay down

♥ a cat’s brain weighs about 30g.
♥ Both humans and cats have identical regions in the brain responsible for emotion.
♥ A cat’s brain is more similar to a man’s brain than that of a dog.
♥ The Mystacial whiskers are primarily used as an alternative sensing device when the eyes are no longer effective (i.e. in the dark). It’s now though that there’s a link between visual and other sensory input in the cat. Indeed, research indicates a degree of parallel processing takes place within the cat’s brain. This can be demonstrated by simply touching the end of the whiskers —- the automatic response is for the cat to blink.

Use hand signals and small treats. He should be able to learn tricks this way. Use raised fingers, sweeping hand motions, open palms, etc. And it shouldn’t take long for him to make the connection.
